India to not compromise pursuits of farmers, dairy, staff in commerce offers: Goyal

New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) Commerce and Trade Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday mentioned India won’t compromise with the pursuits of farmers, dairy and staff in commerce offers.

He additionally mentioned India is in search of new markets equivalent to Russia for the nation’s fishery sector, which is dealing with points as a result of steep tariffs within the US.

He mentioned India and the US are negotiating proposed bilateral commerce settlement.

“We’re working for commerce deal. India isn’t going to compromise with the pursuits of farmers, dairy and staff… We’re engaged on a good equitable and balanced commerce deal,” he mentioned right here at Udyog Samagam 2025 — a convention of industries and commerce ministers of states.

“We wish a good, equitable and balanced commerce deal (with the US). If that occurs, it may occur any day, it may occur tomorrow, it could occur subsequent month, it could occur subsequent 12 months… However as a authorities, we’re making ready for every little thing,” he mentioned.

India and the US are negotiating a bilateral commerce settlement. Up to now, 5 rounds of talks have been accomplished.

On India- EU commerce pact, the official mentioned talks are progressing and the EU Commerce Commissioner Maros Sefcovic is predicted to go to India within the second week of December for commerce talks.
